The mission of this ministry is to kindle the light of God’s love and truth in the hearts of others. A living example of this process is found in Luke 24:13-35. On the day of Jesus’ resurrection two of his disciples were walking home from Jerusalem. Jesus joined them, but they were kept from recognizing Him. The two told the “stranger” about Jesus, his crucifixion, and the possible resurrection. Then Jesus began to explain the Old Testament scriptures concerning Himself and how the prophecies had been fulfilled through His suffering. Later after the men recognized Jesus, He vanished. In amazement the disciples exclaimed, “Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked with us on the road, while He opened to us the scriptures?” (Luke 24:32). As Jesus declared the meaning of the scriptures, a flame was kindled and began burning in their hearts. Today the word of God can still have this powerful impact. “The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword…” (Hebrews 4:12).
